About me
My name is Chiara Basellini, I was born in Milan and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Giulia in Brescia, Italy with a specialization in Artistic Decoration.
By attending the academy I was able to gain access to a broad view of artistic techniques. In particular, some inclinations have stood out:
• on an academic level: for elements of gilding, engraving, use of watercolors and acrylics
• on a personal level: for airbrushing, pyrography, pinstriping
It is good to specify the use, in my academic career, of reference models from various artists (such as Milo Manara, Aubrey Beardsley, André Beuchat, Hideyuki Mori) and artistic styles (Arab, Gothic, Oriental art), to which I am freely inspired to create personal reinterpretations and learn the use of the stroke and the various techniques.
I create illustrations by hand, using traditional and experimental painting techniques, or graphic techniques (through the use of professional software and wacom graphic table). This allows me to be more flexible in processing, trying to achieve results that are a fair combination of traditional and digital illustration.
